Wed, Sep 26, 2007 @ 7:48pm - part-time transfer?
I've been working for Target about a year now, and for the most part, it's an alright job. I mean, it does have it's totally god-life-sucking-terrible days, but really, that's any job. I'm 17 and I'm an Electronics Team Member. So, I have two questions:

1) Even though I'm part time, and not 18, can I still transfer to another store? Would I have to fill out an application at this other location or just go talk to the manager? I'm thinking possibly, they might need Electronics Team Members, as my store is stacked with them, and whenever I go to this other Target, it seems like there's only one guy in Electronics, or in that side of the store. On the other hand, my store is considered "high volume", and this other Target seems significantly less busy. Any suggestions?

2) As anyone actually moved up in Target? It seems at my store that it rarely happens and it just takes so long for it to happen. I would ideally like to persue some kind of Specialist position during college. So any examples of people moving up, or not moving up, would be appricated.
Wed, Sep 05, 2007 @ 12:17pm - Vacation duing the holidays?
I know this is a total long shot but does Target let team members request vacations during the holiday season?  When i worked at Sam's Club they wouldnt let you take any sort of vacation from Thanksgiving to New years =0(

Planorama - Thursday, Friday, Sat! Yay! I love planoramas. I dont know why because in the time Im there my store goes to hell but its fun to not wear a walkie and worry about guests for 3 days. :)

I am taking the fun committee back over at my store. We all got new captains after our reviews and our new fun team isnt doing anything fun. Soo Im taking it back on. I am doing something different each week in October. Right now I only have two things though. An Octoberfest (without beer) and a halloween party where everyone brings a dish and names it something scary. But I dont know what to do for the other 2 weeks.. If anyone has any fall/october ideas let me know please. Thanks!

So, back when I first started working at this target (about 3 ETL-HRs ago), we had a Fun Committee.  I don't know if any of your stores have it, but it's a group of people who decide on the fun days to have for team members, like PB&J day, or turkey bowling huddles, or things like that.  Just things to keep the team motivated.  Then I moved, but there was no Fun Committee at my second store.  We did, however, have a lot of fun stuff organized by the HR team. Like, every weekend was something or other day.  It was great.

So then I came back to this Target in December and the Fun Committee we GONE!  I've mentioned it a few times, then our ETL-HR quit, and the new one has re-instituted the Fun Committee!!!  So yeah, I jumped right on that and our first meeting is Wednesday.  I'm pretty excited.

So here's a question for the community.  What kinda stuff does your store do for the team?  Let's discuss!

Hey guys.

I'm Amy. I'm a GSTL at Target 1048 in Norfolk, Va. We're currently a redfocus store. Where I play a huge role in the "expect more, pay less" program. ie, I work usually 50 hour work weeks, and still get bitched out by every single exec, because the store is struggling so badly. we're the worst in our district on everything EXCEPT our conversion rate, which is consistantly green.

SO. Hello!

I really do love my job. I just really hate this store. I was very happy at my old store. But ah well, 18 months isn't that long, right?

So, I'm very positive about working for Target.  I really like the company, and am actually starting to consider if it's something I'd want to do for the rest of my life, which is strange since I'm getting my masters in education and have wanted to be a teacher since elementary school.

That being said, I'm getting frustrated with exactly how I was thrown into the signing  specialist job at my store.  The girl I took over for did very little for the month before I started, so I had TONS of old stuff to do just to catch up.  I'm just now putting stuff out that was supposed to be set 7/15.  It's frustrating because every pallet I get is coming with more and more signing, since this is the busiest time of the year.

That being said, I really wasn't trained at all.  She was with me for two days, showed me how to do a few things, and then the rest is up to me.  My boss is a nice guy, don't get me wrong, but I think he's expecting too much of me in my first few weeks.  Today I worked 12 hours (6am-6pm) just trying to catch up in the steel.  I finally got everything clean and am working on the pallet that came in last week, and have the pallet from this week up in the steel waiting for me.

I dunno, I just wish there was some sort of RTS or anything at all to get me through.  One of my GSTL friends said I should ask them to let me train at a different store with a signing specialist.  It isn't a terrible idea, but I can't lost anymore time with what I have to do.

Anyway, just a little rant.

Wooo...National Night Out. Anyone excited? This will be the first year that our store has actually participated in the event since our PD isn't that involved.
